Artist Insight:  We Global

What's up everybody this is Shod Harris with Mic Fiend Promotions.  This is the official first installment from myself, for
Artist Insight.  And if you have read this piece you might be thinking this is about DJ Khaled and his merry men of FL
artists.  If you really thought that then you are dead wrong like 5 big girls in a Geo Metro.  This is about the importance of
an online presence for independent artists.  If you think about it now almost everybody that has a phone is connected
online at all times.  That's a lot of people.  So now is the perfect time to know how to effectively use the internet to increase
your buzz.

A couple of years ago when MySpace first started to get hot, that was the start of the internet rapper.  Now that MySpace is
becoming the new Black Planet (its sad, I had some good fun with MySpace), it’s time for artists to find other ways of
getting their music heard by slews of people.  Years ago all you have to do was put a hot song on MySpace and get a
couple thousand in views and then that would generate a nice lil buzz for yourself.  That’s how a lot of artists today got their
buzz such as Wale, Drake, Mickey Factz, The Cool Kids are more but things have definitely changed now.  Now artists
have to be everywhere online.  You have to be on Twitter, Facebook, on the major hip-hop sites as well as the blog sites
just to get people interested in your music.  Some of the sites that you should check out if you have no clue where to start
at is 2dopeboyz.com, Nahright.com, Hiphopdx.com and Onsmash.com.

Now that I have told you pretty much told you what you already know it’s time to give you the INSIGHT part of this feature.
For artists that are just starting out and want to get their internet presence now, one of the first things you need to do is
make sure you get a Twitter page and a Facebook page.  Twitter is a great networking tool right now.  It allows you to see
what moves your favorite artists are making or just moves that artists in your region.  That will allow for your name to get
out there even more.  You do have to make sure that you are being seen outside of in front of a computer.  You have to be
out in your region so people can see the name along with your face.  An important thing to keep in mind is when you are
using Twitter and Facebook it is good to let people see your personality as well instead of just asking people to listen to
your music.  You have to give people a listen and showing people another side of you besides you make music is a starting
point.  While you on these social networking sites don’t bug people about checking out your music all the time, us in the
twitter world call that a #thumbhoe.  Another step that is important is that you should start to contact different blog sites on
the web to get your music added to the site.  This will get you from being just a local rapper to getting known in other states
and that’s what everybody needs, MORE RECOGNITION.  Most of the time sites aren’t going to mess with your music the
first time you send it to them but as you continue to send music sooner or later they are going to post it.  As you start to
have your music posted to different sites other sites will start to notice and post your music as well.  So this is definitely a
game of PERSISTANCE.  I hope this insight into creating your online buzz definitely helps you out some.
Or if you are having a hard time doing this you can just contact Mic Fiend Promotions and we will just handle this for you
(had to throw a plug in there lol).
